Ceremony - Opening and Intentions
The "Intentions" for the ceremony were the only part that were not written together, these were read after El's opening:
Friends, we are gathered here to celebrate love in all its forms, but especially the love that makes a commitment between two people. This kind of love is not afraid to make promises. It is not afraid to work and to struggle. It seeks not only to be but to continue. It is based not only on the pleasures of the present but on the hopes of the future. This is the kind of love that creates an anchor between two people, one that they can float away from and find their way back safely. It also anchors a home and a family, and along with other such great loves, creates the bonds of a community. We celebrate and applaud the love and the promises of Michael and Elizabeth. May they always be a living hope for the future and for all of us.
Everyone close your eyes now and send your love and prayers to surround Elizabeth and Michael, so that they will have the strength, courage and integrity they will need in order to live every day of their lives in these vows they are about to take.
Elizabeth reads her intention:
"When I first met you eight years ago I was impressed by your intelligence, what a great sense of humor you had and how handsome you were.
Over the years through friendship and love we've grown a lot together, both of us have changed.
But these key things that I loved about you then, and so many more things that have touched me since, have blossomed into a deep love for you that I don't ever see changing.
It is my intention today to make a public declaration of my lifelong devotion to you."
Michael reads his intention:
"Since the first moment I heard you voice I knew somehow, in the back of my mind, that you were the one I would someday commit to.
The more I grew to know you, the more this little piece of subconscious knowledge was reinforced.
And today, standing here in front of our closest friends, connected to the Mother, surrounded by the Great Spirits, I want to tell you that my intention today is to take with you the next step into our time together.
A step that will bond our spirits forever, just as over the five years together we were bonded physically and mentally. I want to be with you forever, my best friend, my mate, my lover. This is my intention."
El: On your sacred honor are you, Michael, willing to enter into this union?
Michael: I do
El: On your sacred honor are you, Elizabeth, willing to enter into this union?
Elizabeth: I do
