Day Five - Winding downFriday was our last full day in Sedona. I woke up before Michael and got to enjoy the sight of a couple hot air balloons on the horizon. I looked up hotair balloon rides after seeing it, apparently they only do them early in the morning and they cost around $150-200 per person. It was too late to consider doing one on this vacation, maybe next time. After some breakfast we did a bit of cleaning around the house so we wouldn't have to worry about it later in the day or on Saturday morning before our flight. We then spent some time reading and chilling out. In the early afternoon we decided to climb one of the hills across from the house to see if we could get a picture of the house, and along the walk we found javelina tracks! Javelinas look a bit like pigs, but are in a different family, very cute and can get quite reasonably sized. They're all over the place in Sedona and I'd never even heard of them. I did manage to get a photo of part of the house, but it still doesn't do it justice. Maybe if we had a helicopter... or a hot air balloon! In the late afternoon we decided to head out to Tlaquepaque to browse the art galleries and check out the shops. It was a nice experience, there were some really amazing sculptures and paintings, along with some great photos. We picked up a few little things at the shops and by the time the shops were closing at 5PM it was time to head over to the restaurant where we had reservations, the Oak Creek Brewery and Grill. Of course! What would a honeymoon of ours be without a trip to the local brewery? OK, to be honest we didn't know it existed until Michael was doing some browsing on the internet that morning and we decided it was too good of an opportunity to pass up. Their beer list included a light pilsner, a lager, a hefeweizen, 3 ales and a porter. We couldn't decide which ale to get, so we went with a sampler. The pilsner was not good, the lager, ales and hefeweizen were decent but very light and their porter was a porter (I don't like them enough to say if it was any good). We both ended up ordering the Doc's Pale Ale, which was sufficiently hoppy but nothing terribly exciting. The food wasn't exciting either, especially for the price. The service? Terrible. Our waitress simply didn't have time for us. Still, I'm glad we checked it out while we were there. After dinner we got a bottle of champagne and headed back to the house. We sat around and watched the last part of The Triangle while eating the rest of the cheese and crackers we had left over from earlier in the week. The evening was finished with a nice, relaxing bubbly bath. Click here for all day 5 photos |
